Combatting GBV in Egypt

Background

The purpose of this Initiation Plan is to kickstart key pilot activities under the ‘Piloting of the Essential Service Package (ESP) for Women and Girls Subject to Violence in Egypt’, as well as the larger umbrella of the upcoming ‘Combating GBV in Egypt: A coordinated prevention and protection approach’ Joint Programme in the future to pave the way for a full-fledged project document encompassing wider-range of activities and key documents like a case study on violence against women with disabilities, which is expected to lead to a national action plan.

Expected Outcome

The main flagship of this initiation plan is a case study that intends to capture the state of violence against women with disabilities. It will collect a base line which will be captured in a report to be used to understand changes in the situation in the future. The case study is expected to provide comprehensive and up-to-date information regarding violence against women with disabilities.  Moreover, it would help assessing the impact of any program intending to mitigate or eliminate violence against women with disabilities in the future. The case study will also focus on registered women with disabilities within the Takaful and Karama programme.
