The Sustainable Development Goals are Coming to Life

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are coming to life is a new publication launched at the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) side event on July 20, 2016. The event was co-organized by the United Nations Development Group (UNDG), Republic of Korea, Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Republic of Sierra Leone.

The publication provides a glimpse into the early efforts of 16 countries in implementing the SDGs and the role of the UN Country Teams (UNCTs) in the process. Egypt presents in this publication some of its efforts along with other countries including Brazil, Cabo Verde, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Georgia, Indonesia, Mauritania, Montenegro, Morocco, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Pakistan, Philippines, Uganda and Turkmenistan.

Egypt presents a case study on how they aligned the nation’s plans with the 2030 Agenda and the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and invested in capacity to monitor SDG progress. In addition, the case study provides information on the UN efforts to raise awareness on the SDGs in Egypt.

All countries shared their country experiences and challenges in implementing the SDGs which is still at an early stage.
