UN Development Assistance Framework Signed with Egyptian GovernmentJan 1, 2013
Poverty alleviation through pro-poor growth and equity; quality basic services; democratic governance; food security and nutrition; and environmental sustainability and natural resource management, are the five areas in which the United Nations will support Egypt over the next five years. The overarching objective is to “Achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)+ with Inclusive Growth, Freedom, Social Justice and Dignity”.
These five areas are identified in the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) for the period 2013 to 2017, which H.E. Mr. Ashraf El Araby, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation and United Nations Resident Coordinator in Egypt, Ms. Anita Nirody signed.
The UNDAF brings together 26 UN agencies to work jointly on achieving specific results in the five priority areas. It has been developed in close collaboration with the Government, civil society and other international development partners. Its implementation is a joint responsibility of the UN and the Government.
