Data-Driven Innovation Middle East and North Africa

Event Description: The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the International Labour Organization (ILO), The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and Cairo University will join forces in a full week of activities in Cairo (Egypt), focused on data-driven innovation and digital entrepreneurship. The initiative is part of the partners’ efforts to promote the use of data and technology in finding solutions to social and economic challenges in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). The Data-Driven Innovation Regional workshop in Cairo is a first-of-its-kind event in the Middle East and North Africa.

- IDRC: established by act of Canada’s parliament in 1970, it aims to initiate, encourage, support, and conduct research into the problems of the developing regions of the world and into the means for applying and adapting scientific, technical, and other knowledge to the economic and social advancement of those regions
- ILO: The UN Agency which aims to promote rights at work, encourage decent employment opportunities, enhance social protection and strengthen dialogue on work-related issues.
- ITI: a pioneering national institute which aims to develop pioneering human cadres’ capabilities in science, technology, and innovation to respond to the needs of both economic and community development.
