In helping the Government of Egypt protect the environment and manage its natural resources, UNDP provides assistance in the areas of climate change and risk mitigation and nature and wildlife conservation. Egypt formulated and endorsed the National Environmental Action Plan covering all aspects of sustainable development and established the national committee for sustainable development to operationalize the plan. The Government’s commitment was manifested in issuing the "Framework of the National Strategy for Sustainable Development and Methodology of Preparing the Indicators", and establishing units in a number of ministries, to initiate the development of such indicators.
